Migrating from Charts by WorshipTools

Charts by WorshipTools stores songs in the WorshipTools cloud and has no export. ChordPro cannot be exported, and PDFs only exist per service. What Charts does offer is a ChordPro editor for every song, and that text pastes cleanly into SONGUIDE. The Add song button in SONGUIDE has a Coming from Charts entry built around exactly that: copy a song, create it from the clipboard in one step, repeat.

One honest note before you start: because Charts has no export, this is per-song manual work on the WorshipTools side. The SONGUIDE side is one tap per song, and your folder choice is kept between songs, so a library moves in one focused session rather than one painful afternoon per song.

Copy a song in Charts

Every song's ChordPro text is available in two places:

  1. In the Charts app: open the song, tap its title menu and choose Edit Song, then Edit ChordPro.
  2. In the WorshipTools Planning web app: open the song and switch to its ChordPro editor.

Either way, select all of the text and copy it.

Create the song in SONGUIDE

Choose Add song, then Coming from Charts, then Create song from clipboard. The song is created with title, artist, key and the other details taken from the ChordPro directives, and sections appear as headings. Pick the folder once, it stays selected for every following song. After each import, Import next song from clipboard takes the next copied song in one tap.

If the clipboard cannot be read (some browsers ask for permission first), a paste field appears and works the same way. If the copied text does not look like a songsheet, SONGUIDE says so instead of creating a junk song.

Songs from SongSelect

Charts integrates with CCLI SongSelect, so many Charts libraries were originally filled from there. For individual songs that exist on SongSelect, importing them through SONGUIDE's Import from SongSelect entry is another way in. Use that route sparingly though: SongSelect's paid plans cap chord downloads at 200 unique songs per subscription year, and every downloaded song counts against that limit. For a whole library, the copy-paste loop is the safer path.

What comes across

Title, artist, key, tempo, time signature, copyright and CCLI number carry over from the ChordPro directives, and {comment: ...} lines become section headings. In the rare case that a song's text carries a {capo} line, it becomes your personal capo setting on the song. SONGUIDE stores capo per person rather than in the song itself, so the written key stays clean for everyone you share with.

What stays behind

  • A capo set in the Charts app is a display setting, not part of the ChordPro text, so it is not in what you copy. Expect to set your capo again in SONGUIDE after the move.
  • WorshipTools-specific directives such as the song flow ({flow}), mid-song key changes ({keychange}) and layout markers like column or page breaks are removed during import. They would have no effect in SONGUIDE.
  • Sets, linked media, and attachments are not part of the ChordPro text and do not come over. Setlists are quick to rebuild once the songs are in.
